Erskine Lynas is a new project by Thomas Emslie, a long-time ally of this label.
Written and recorded in Aberdeen throughout Summer ’16 and inspired by artists like Tears for Fears, The Blue Nile, OMD and Magnetic Fields, Erskine draws from the naive melodic style of classic 80s and 90s synth-pop, smeared against the grey skies and coasts of Emslie’s hometown.
The first of these tracks were debuted on our Stranger Things radio show last year, and since then the project has developed into a full length album, due this November on Local Action.
Ahead of that album, ‘Craiger Caught the Sleeper’ is the first taste of Erskine’s distant but relatable world – six minutes of sour synths and broken promises set to a slow disco pulse.
