Sim Hutchins is back to save dance music on C18230.5, the follow-up to his chart-topping club classics collection Clubeighteen2thirty.
Released in April this year, Clubeighteen2thirty drew from both the positives and negatives of Sim’s clubbed out youth - as focused on existential crises and lost comrades as transformative trips and life-affirming experiences - on a record that doubled as a requiem for his raving days and an realist’s depiction of dance music in 2018. .
On C18230.5, Sim presents new tracks from the album sessions and remixes from three of clubland’s finest current artists. ‘Pissing WKD Blue’ and ‘Like Herding Cats’ both take the album’s key tropes - harmonic distortion, interference and at-times-overwhelming digital FX - and apply them to weighty UK soundsystem traditions, while LOFT, object blue and algorave standard-bearer Renick Bell take on three of the record’s biggest hits.
