French club god Big Dope P returns to Local Action, teaming up with Feadz and maggyDMP for ‘Freak’ - backed with a remix by Jersey club queen UNiiQU3.
Big Dope P’s and Maggy’s Moveltraxx label has been at club music’s cutting edge for longer than we’ve been running Local Action, releasing influential artists from Jersey, Chicago and more for over a decade (we also licensed ‘BBMG Anthem’ from them for DJ Jayhood’s KING album back in January). Feadz meanwhile has been a part of French club music since his work with Mr. Oizo in the late 1990s and should need no introduction.
As ever with Dope P, ‘Freak’ is ecstatic club music full of colour, atmosphere and power straight off his trusty MPC - packed with intricate edits but simple and direct when it counts. It’s felt like a classic since we first heard P road-test it at parties in London, and we’re psyched to finally release it. UNiiQU3 takes remix duty on the B-side - we’ve been stans for her since early YouTube cuts like ‘Grind On U’ and had her play our parties three times now in London and Bristol, so it’s great to make things official.
